University College London
University College London initiated an estate review and commissioned AMA to undertake a space utilisation survey of its Bloomsbury campus. AMA surveyed over 5,000 spaces containing 29,000 seats, across 250,000 sqm of teaching, learning, office and social space. We conducted a functional suitability survey of teaching spaces (using our QuILS tool). We compared UCL to their peer group as context for our recommendations, which considered many aspects of UCL’s estate and its management, in particular measures designed to increase space efficiency and efficacy as well as financial and environmental sustainability. Our study results supported a masterplan encompassing UCL’s entire estate.
AMA also worked with UCL to develop a strategic brief of academic stakeholders for the proposed Stratford campus adjacent to the Olympic Park. The new campus will 'bring science, technology, education and research to the heart of Stratford.' For more information click here.
