AMA's commitment to understanding building use is the starting point for using space more efficiently, thus saving energy and reducing carbon emissions.
Clients whom AMA advise on learning or workplace strategy, briefing and change management are fully supported in their sustainability goals, affecting the location and transport access of buildings, the form of building design and operations, the places where individuals choose to work, and how users actually behave. By advising clients on flexible working, we help them reduce the amount of space and embodied energy required to operate. Respondents are asked about environmental behaviours part of the WorkWare toolkit, and space audits include energy, waste and water audits.
Naturally, we embrace these sustainability principles. Our Green Office policy covers energy, transport, printing, water, and waste. AMA's carbon footprint is monitored and offset through a charity that provides fuel-efficient stoves and manages reforestation projects in rural Tanzania. Some images of their work can be seen to the left.
In the past we have discussed sustainable issues at the CIBSE Conference and at Eco Build. We also have led a 'Sustainable Southwark Walkabout' for Green Sky Thinking Week which looked at our sustainable approach through two of our projects. Read more about these events here.
