Continuing AMA’s work on the London Borough of Southwark’s ‘Modernise’ programme, AMA transformed an existing building into the first of a new centralised office programme located in Peckham. We developed the design strategy created for their main Tooley Street offices – using a similar approach to materials and furniture. We continued to develop Southwark’s workplace philosophy to create an engaging and economic office environment. The welcoming reception comprises of public-facing spaces with meeting rooms and interview booths - providing a multi-user entrance whilst maintaining secure access to the workplaces. The internal planning and application of finishes simplify the complex existing building layout, making wayfinding easy by defining clear zones for open plan workspaces, that are supported by meeting rooms, break-out spaces, copy/ print and refreshment areas. Sustainability is at the heart of the design – promoting access to the local community, utilizing good local travel infrastructure, well-engineered environmental services, and an adaptable strategy for future use.
